Both starting at 09:00, same out and back route towards Tayport/Tentsmuir with 5k’ers turning back at usual spot (Tayport lay-by), then on to enjoy the sauna at the pier for an hour. 15k’ers returning after, to re-energise those tired legs! Introducing - Run Club! Drop in and join us for a chilled and casual 5km run with a cold plunge and sauna after. This is all about getting outside, moving and socialising through these cold dark months. If you’re a regular runner, trying to get back to it or just starting out you’ll be welcome with us. We’ll be cruising at a conversational pace and won’t leave anyone behind. A blast of heat and optional cold reset awaits at the finish. Our first meet up will be on Sunday 14th December where we’ll start outside Shoreline and head to Tayport cycle path for an out and back. Sauna and plunge pool will be parked up on the pier at David Anderson Marine. Bring running stuff, swimwear and a couple of towels. The story behind the horsebox… Back in 2022 after trips to Oslo and Helsinki I felt inspired to start a project of building a sauna and thought we had the perfect spot here in Newport-on-Tay. When we found an old Rice Horsebox online the idea for a mobile sauna started. As anyone who has renovated an old horsebox will know, you’re pretty much starting from scratch... The trailer floor was rotten, it had holes in the roof and back doors, the steel holding the main door was rusted so badly we ended cutting it off and replacing it and we had to weld a lot more support in the trailer (thanks dad!) The design aspect took hundreds of hours, tinkering with plans and ideas. First we had to make sure it was watertight and insulate, then add a vapour barrier and clad it out in thermotreated wood. We chose to use Alder wood for the interior cladding and benches with a @Harviaglobal M3 stove to heat things up, and we couldn’t be happier with the results! The Horsebox has even had a side gig as a ticket office at one of @lefreakandfriends infamous pier parties 🐬 The inaugural Horsebox Sauna session was hosted on Boxing Day 2023 when we had sauna master Lucas fly all the way from Oslo to light the fire 🔥 It has turned out even better than I had imagined and it’s been a joy to see so many people enjoy the Horsebox Sauna and have it travel to so many class spots. Big thanks to my dad for all the help with the project, @davidandersonmarine where the sauna was built, saunashop.com all their advice, John S Don Blacksmiths for all the extra bits, @firesurroundcentres for helping out and @lornebockendesign for bringing it all together 🙌🏼 Also a huge thank you to all followers for the love 🩵
